“Police Academy” is a 1984 American comedy film directed by and starring , , and . The movie revolves around a group of misfits who are recruited into the police academy and their attempts to graduate from the academy.

“Police Academy” begins with the Mayor of the city announcing that the police force will be open to all recruits, regardless of their background or qualifications. This leads to a flood of applications, and the police academy ends up accepting a group of unconventional and eccentric cadets, including the goofball Carey Mahoney (), the tall and strong Moses Hightower (), and the naive and accident-prone Laverne Hooks (Marion Ramsey).

The academy is run by the strict and no-nonsense Lieutenant Harris (G.W. Bailey) and the bumbling Commandant Lassard (). Harris is determined to see the cadets fail and get kicked out of the academy, while Lassard is more concerned with making sure the cadets receive proper training.

As the training progresses, the cadets face various challenges, including physical fitness tests, firearms training, and a simulated urban riot. Mahoney, who is only in the academy to avoid jail time, initially resists the training but gradually becomes more invested in the process, especially after he falls for the attractive cadet Karen Thompson ().

In the end, the cadets are able to work together to stop a gang of criminals who are trying to take over the city. They graduate from the academy and become full-fledged police officers.

“Police Academy” was a box office success and spawned six sequels, as well as a TV series and an animated series. The movie is remembered for its irreverent humor, memorable characters, and quotable one-liners.
