“Black Sea” is a tense, disaster, claustrophobic submarine thriller that follows a recently unemployed deep-sea salvage captain who assembles a crew of misfits to recover a legendary cache of Nazi gold believed to be lost in a sunken U-boat at the bottom of the Black Sea. But as greed, mistrust, and desperation begin to mount within the cramped confines of the submarine, the mission takes a dark and deadly turn.

📖 Plot Summary

Robinson (), a seasoned submarine captain, is laid off from a marine salvage company. Feeling betrayed and discarded, he takes up a shady offer from a mysterious backer to retrieve millions in gold bullion rumored to be aboard a German U-boat lost in the Black Sea during WWII.

Robinson assembles a rough crew of British and Russian submariners — many with military or mechanical experience — to pilot a rusty, old Soviet submarine. The plan is to retrieve the gold and split it evenly. But the claustrophobic setting, language barriers, and growing distrust between the nationalities quickly turn the mission into a psychological and physical fight for survival.

As they descend into the depths of the Black Sea, greed and paranoia consume the crew, leading to betrayals, violence, and ultimately, tragedy. One by one, members of the crew meet their fates, either through accidents, sabotage, or outright murder. Eventually, Robinson begins to understand the true cost of the gold and makes a redeeming sacrifice to ensure at least one innocent crew member can survive.
