Synopsis:

The film is set in the 1920s and follows the life of Einar Wegener (), a successful Danish artist who begins to question his gender identity. Einar’s journey of self-discovery is aided by his supportive wife Gerda (), who is also an artist.

As Einar embraces his true identity as a woman, he begins living as Lili Elbe. Lili undergoes a series of risky surgeries to physically transition into a woman, with Gerda by her side every step of the way.
