“Little Buddha” is a 1993 drama movie directed by Bernardo Bertolucci. The movie tells the story of a group of monks who discover a child living in Seattle who they believe to be the reincarnation of their spiritual leader, Lama Dorje.
“Little Buddha” follows the journey of three individuals – Jesse Conrad, a young boy living in Seattle, his father Dean Conrad, and Kenpo Tenzin, a Buddhist monk, as they explore the teachings and philosophy of Buddhism and discover the true nature of the child they believe to be the reincarnation of Lama Dorje.
Throughout the film, we see the parallel story of Prince Siddhartha, who later becomes the Buddha, as he seeks enlightenment and discovers the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.
“Little Buddha” explores themes of faith, spirituality, and the journey towards enlightenment. It features an international cast including Keanu Reeves, Bridget Fonda, and Chris Isaak, and was largely shot on location in Nepal and Bhutan.
