“Savior” is a 1998 drama film directed by Predrag Antonijević and starring Dennis Quaid, Stellan Skarsgård, and Nastassja Kinski. The movie follows Joshua Rose (Dennis Quaid), a former U.S. Marine and veteran of the Gulf War, who travels to Bosnia during the height of the war in the 1990s to find his wife and son, who are believed to be missing.
In Bosnia, Joshua finds himself caught up in the conflict and becomes disillusioned by the atrocities he witnesses committed by both sides. After a series of events, he ends up saving a young boy, named Fidel (Nedim Prohic), from a group of soldiers who were about to execute him. Joshua takes the boy under his wing and becomes his protector, as they navigate through the war-torn country trying to survive and avoid danger.
As Joshua and Fidel journey through the war-torn landscape, they encounter a variety of characters, including a French journalist named Dominique (Nastassja Kinski), who is documenting the war, and a Serbian soldier named Goran (Stellan Skarsgård), who becomes an unexpected ally to Joshua and Fidel.
Through his experiences in Bosnia, Joshua undergoes a transformation and begins to question his beliefs about war and violence. He becomes determined to protect Fidel and keep him safe, despite the dangers they face.
The film was praised for its powerful performances and its unflinching portrayal of the brutality and horror of war. It was also noted for its complex exploration of the moral and ethical dilemmas faced by soldiers and civilians during times of conflict. “Savior” was nominated for several awards, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
